Elysium - Future Collaboration Album with Remon Sakr

I am delighted to announce an ongoing international collaboration between myself, the Egyptian film score composer & ethnic Egyptian wind instrumentalist, Remon Sakr, the Cairo cellist, Jan Abadier and the Californian vocalist, classics scholar, and multi-instrumentalist Bettina Joy De Guzman...

The album will be named "Elysium" - here is what Remon Sakr has to say so far about this project:

"I'm so much happy to announce about my upcoming album which will be released in the beginning of 2019 under a temporarily name "Elysium" (and may be it will be the final title).

About "Elysium", I collected musicians that I'm so much proud to work with, and I'm still working on collecting the rest of the musicians and these pictures are for the musicians who are existing in the album officially.

Ladies and gentlemen: let me introduce, my partner (Co-composer) and the Lyre Player Michael Levy - Composer for Lyre & the touchable angelic voice Bettina Joy De Guzman and there is more musicians will join us of course -  I will announce about their collaboration at the suitable moment.

For who is asking about the meaning of "Elysium", this is a definition I copied from the Wikipedia:

"Elysium or the Elysian Fields (Ancient Greek: Ἠλύσιον πεδίον, Ēlýsion pedíon) is a conception of the afterlife that developed over time and was maintained by some Greek religious and philosophical sects and cults."

In short, in ancient Greek mythology, Elysium was a section of the Underworld . The Elysian fields were the final resting place of the souls of the heroic and the virtuous...

In this unique international collaboration, Remon asked me to create four new melodic themes for a selection of some of my lyres, which in the creation of the album, he is orchestrating and skilfully weaving together my themes; to create an almost transcendental tapestry of sound.

Here is an exclusive 'sneak preview' from the as yet unreleased album, of track 3, "Fate and Freedom". The track opens with a haunting narration in Arabic of a poem by Sakr, on the eternally perplexing paradox of how we have always been subject to both the inevitable destiny of our fate & yet also, we also have freedom to choose our fate:

For the remaining tracks, Remon will also be adding the other-worldy vocals of Bettina Joy De Guzman; in order to attempt to weave together, what I am sure will be, a magical musical tapestry, with the goal of seamlessly fusing ancient and contemporary musical timbres.

This exciting new collaboration album will be released sometime in the early months of 2019...the best things in life are worth waiting for!
